Steve suggested that perhaps I could get into the rally if I was with the Indiana Gazette. So, at the last minute on Monday, I drove to Mellon Arena even though I didn't even know if I could even get inside or if there was a list that I had to be on. Luckily, since I got there so late, I didn't have to pay for parking but unfortunately, since I was so late, I kept getting sent to the wrong place even though I was waving my press pass around and my gear. When I finally go there, Obama had already been talking for an hour and I had no idea how much longer he would be going. So I kept walking around trying to get a good shot when I saw 2 sets of risers in the pit and I climbed onto the one on my side. During this time, Steve, who had been there the whole time and already had a good shot, started shooting random things and ended up shooting a group of photographers where he saw me on the risers! Later, he asked me why I was on the risers and how did I get on there and I said, "What are you talking about?" and he goes "Those risers are reserved for Getty Images, the AP, and photogs who were hired specifically to follow the campaign!" OMG! I had no idea! I was rubbing elbows with the Associated Press!
