[19 Jul 2009|06:09pm] |
I just found out that the iconic Singapore Airlines stewardess uniforms were designed by Pierre Balmain himself in 1968 for the airlines. i think thats so cool.

also, i bought a Balmain shirt at i think 75% off, dirt cheap and it didnt occur to me that it might be fake. How can you tell? its really well packed and all the logos are fine theres even the proper balmain tags and paper but idk u never know.

| Jon Huertas talks about Castle, Generation Kill and Wounded Warrior Fund |
[19 Jul 2009|12:17am] |
Actor Jon Huertas (ABC's 'Castle,' HBO's 'Generation Kill'), a former airman with Air Force special ops, is a big supporter of the Wounded Warrior Fund. The fund is a charitable organization that helps U.S. service personnel that have returned from war with missing limbs. The fund helps them get prosthetics that the government does not provide.

Jon Huertas played Sgt. Tony "Poke" Espera in Generation Kill and I thought he did a brilliant job. Just wanted to see what he was up to and came across this interview. Also, I had no idea he'd been in the Air Force. Anyway, he seems like a really nice guy and I'm glad his TV show is doing well. I hope he gets invited to the Emmys to help represent GK. Oh, and let the Generation Kill gif party begin... NOW!

Psychiatrist: Mischa Barton Hospitalized, 'at the Brink of Disaster'

A psychiatric expert said California authorities were fearful actress Mischa Barton might have ended up dead within 24 hours when they decided to hospitalize her under the state’s involuntary psychiatric-hold law Wednesday afternoon.
“It’s a 24-hour standard for these statutes,” said Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and FOX News contributor. “You have to ask yourself, ‘Would this person die in the next 24 hours?’ They have to be at the brink of complete disaster.”
Barton, 23, was brought to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where she was hospitalized under the state’s section 5150 of the California Welfare and Institutions Code, the New York Post reported.
The statute allows the state to hold people in the hospital for up to 72 hours if they are a danger to themselves or others. After 72 hours, a judge would have to be brought in if the person does not agree to voluntarily check herself in.

| So Sue Me |
[19 Jul 2009|12:25am] |

Chinese supermodel Du Juan has been sued by her acting agent company for having allegedly violating their business agreement and may face a fine amounting up to 4.5 million yuan, Beijing Times reports Thursday morning.
'New Silk Road' filed a lawsuit against model Du Juan, who was said to have made a secret deal with entertainment management giant IMG prior to the expiration of her contact.
New Silk Road, founded in 1992, is the oldest and largest model business in China.
According to New Silk Road, Du Juan signed a business agreement with the company after she was crowned at the annual show the company launched to select models nationwide in September, 2002. The contact stipulates New Silk Road is Du Juan's sole agency managing all her events both at home and abroad.
With help from the company, Du Juan's modeling career took off in the following three years and she made a big name of herself in fashion circles.
Du Juan traveled abroad at the end of 2005, "in the name of further education", as was said by the company, who later learned the model had actively shown up for many publicity campaigns for foreign brands and signed with American agency IMG.
Therefore, New Silk Road claimed Du Juan's has violated their original agreement and thus requests the model hands in part of the income grossed through such activities and pays another 3 million yuan fine.
Beijing Second Intermediate People's Court opened the case on Wednesday but Du Juan was not in court.
However, Du Juan's attorney said on the model's behalf that she was forced to sign the contract before the final competition rather than after the show, which was what the company has claimed. Du's attorney said the model was forced to sign the contract in order to enter the final round of the competition.
The attorney argued the agreement was not fair, and has made a counterclaim requesting the court withdraw the lawsuit. However, the attorney for the plaintiff said the company filed the lawsuit not for money but with a view to reshaping the orderless domestic modeling industry and seeking sanctions against those that violate industry norms in their quest for fame.
The court did not rule out decision in court Wednesday. - btw, re:quest just dropped joshua walter.
